Affairs of the Heart: Stand-Up Comedy and Storytelling Workshop

February 9 @ 1:00 pm 5:00 pm EST

Participants will learn the basics of writing and performing a short comedy set or humorous story for the stage.

Broken up, newly in love, happily divorced, still sharing a Netflix account with your ex- all are welcome at this workshop with award winning comedian Mina Hartong ( Joe’s Pub, Olivia Travel, Lincoln Center Director’s Lab). Participants will write a short stand up set or story to share on stage at our student showcase Sunday, February 11th at 1PM. We will learn flow, exposition, audience interaction and joke structure to share the humorous parts of love life challenges. No experience necessary, intergenerational stories are encouraged. Got comedy on your bucket list? Consider it your Valentine’s present to YOU!

Participants should come prepared to share a 1-2 minute personal story. It should be a story you have told many times and enjoy telling, can tell and recall with ease, something that actually happened, with you at the center of the narrative.

All students will receive one free ticket to Mina Hartong’s show on Saturday, February 10th at 7:30PM.

The class has a maximum capacity of 10 students.

This event is indoors.

Parking is limited at the venue so please utilize the three public parking lots in Town. One is across from the Post Office, one is behind Berkshire Bank and the other is just off Main Street. They are clearly marked. Do not park at Trúc Orient Express Restaurant or the Post Office or you might receive a ticket.
