Family Day Opens Season at Arrowhead
The Arrowhead family day at the Berkshire County Historical Society will open the summer season in Pittsfield. The free event takes place Saturday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It offers activities for families and visitors of all ages.
Activities Planned Throughout the Day
The celebration includes horse-drawn wagon rides, silk-screening demonstrations, a children’s story hour, and a book launch. In addition, visitors can explore the grounds and take part in hands-on activities.
Opening Day Schedule
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Horse-drawn wagon rides with Four Seasons Stables
- 1 to 3 p.m.: Silk-screening demonstrations with Pittsfield’s Penny Arcade Press
- 2 p.m.: Children’s Story Hour featuring books inspired by Herman Melville
- 4 p.m.: Book launch for John Dickson’s Herman Melville in the Berkshires
Guided Tours Begin for the Season
Beginning May 16, hourly guided tours of Herman Melville’s historic home will be offered Thursday through Monday. The first tour begins at 10 a.m., and the final tour starts at 3 p.m.
Tour tickets are required. They may be purchased through berkshirehistory.org or on site.
