Unsung Eats: Berkshire Palate
Williamstown—Little Bun, Chicken & Waffle

Unsung Eats is all about finding great food for a great value all over North county, and today we find ourselves in picturesque Williamstown at a cool little eatery called Berkshire Palate. 

Berkshire Palate is located in the Colonial Plaza on Route 2 where there is plenty of parking.

Once inside, I sat down in the front window at the high counter and looked around. The place is cozy and clean with an upscale feel, and there were other diners there happily chatting away. A man named Paul came to greet me and take my drink order. We talked a bit and I discovered that Paul was part owner, going into business with his sons, opening Berkshire Palate less than a year ago.

A bright young lady named Cheyanne brought my soft drink and took my order. I opted for two different sliders and the salt and vinegar fries. One of my sliders (which they call Little Buns) was a burger with cheddar cheese while my other choice was the intriguing Chicken and Waffle.

While I waited for my lunch I went to their website on my phone and noticed in their mission statement that they use locally sourced ingredients whenever they can and the season allows.

The first thing I noticed when Cheyanne served my order was the attention paid to my lunch by the chef. The burger was a small, but thick, hand formed patty on a fresh brioche bun, and the tender chicken had a lightly breaded and seasoned, crispy skin, and was served between two waffle corners with maple syrup and a chive cream. The tasty salt and vinegar fries (served with a garlic aioli) were hand cut, skin on, and very light, which my server Cheyanne informed me was achieved through their air fryer.

All the flavors were spot-on with all aspects of my lunch, and the presentation was perfect. I’m glad I mixed it up by also ordering the Chicken and Waffle because this little sandwich was a superstar that I can highly recommend. The service was great and I look forward to bringing my friends to this little unsung eatery.

The only way to sum up my experience at the Berkshire Palate is that it is hands down the best $13.64 that I’ve spent in years.
