Big Elm to celebrate continued growth with fifth anniversary party
Big Elm Brewing marks their fifth year in business, the release of a new collection of beers, and a recently expanded distribution market, with a party on Saturday, November 25. The celebration will take place at their tap room located at 65 Silver Street Sheffield, MA. The free event from 12pm to 6pm will include live music and food from Skyview Farm.
“We want to thank everyone who has helped us get to this point and everyone who is supporting us now,” says proprietor and head-brewer Christine Heaton. “Our neighbors are who we want to please. Our community, our roots.”
This year, Big Elm released Thunderlips, a juicy and aromatic New England Style pale ale. Several limited releases will also be available from the Berkshires’-based mircro-brewery, this fall and winter. Big Elm’s dark lager, Dark Star dunkel, and Dead of Winter imperial stout will be available starting this November. Two bourbon barrel-aged beers also debut this winter, an IPA and a Stout. Big Elm’s original lineup of beers (American Lager, 413 Farmhouse Ale, Stout, and IPA) are now sold in all of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, as well as the western half of Connecticut.
Going forward, Big Elm’s tap room will have extended hours from 12pm-6pm Thursday through Saturday all year round. Available for purchase on the premises are sale of flights and pints on premises and cans and growlers for take home. Visitors can also taste small batch sour fruit beers exclusively brewed for the tap room. Small snacks, such as locally made pretzels, can be purchased to accompany the beer and patrons are welcome to bring any of their own food into the tap room.
Since 2012, Big Elm Brewing has proudly crafted ales and lagers brewed in Sheffield, MA to bring their neighbors fresh, high quality beer. Owners, Bill and Christine Heaton met while working for Victory Brewing Company in 2003 and started a brewpub, Pittsfield Brew Works, in 2005. They switched gears into a full production operation with the opening of Big Elm Brewing.
