Position Summary:

The part-time Guest Services Associate is responsible for assisting in all front line guest services including staffing the Front Desk, Security, Museum Shop, and Little Cinema operations. The Guest Services Associate is a self-motivated team player who can consistently provide exceptional service to all visitors.

Primary Functions and Major Responsibilities:

The Guest Services Associate is familiar with and able to perform all the Front Desk and Security staff daily operations including visitor check-in, ticketing, welcoming, orienting, membership and program sales, ushering, gallery monitoring, and all related functions. The Guest Services Associate is able to train other Guest Services staff in all aforementioned tasks. This individual is a leader in providing for a clean, professional, friendly, courteous and safe environment for visitors to enjoy the Museum’s facilities and programs

Duties include:

  • Be familiar with the operation and job functions of all of the Museum’s front-line guest services
  • Prepare building to open
  • Act as coverage for front desk and gallery attendant functions, as necessary
  • Act as coverage for gift shop, as necessary
  • Maintain cleanliness, professionalism, and physical appearance of the front desk, lobby areas, and gallery spaces (restocking interactive stations, etc.) as required
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly when and where they occur
  • Conduct daily briefings and insure that all guest services staff are prepared logistically to assist and support other departments as needed
  • Reconcile daily cash and credit card transactions and all register drawers prior to opening and after closing
  • Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Promote and sell membership in accordance with development department direction
  • Report directly to Guest Services Manager daily regarding visitor feedback, day to day operations, event setup, concerns, and equipment needs

Qualifications: 

  • General understanding of guest services procedures
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Friendly, outgoing personality
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in the use and understanding of databases, Blackbaud product experience a plus
  • Ability to perform the following: work at a desk for extended periods of time; move between office spaces and galleries on various levels of the building; operate a telephone to engage with staff, trustees, donors, members, and patrons; lift/carry (up to 30 pounds)
