Berkshire Organization for Original Music, aka BOOM, is hosting ‘Raffle-Rama’ a celebration of local, original music at their space, the BOOM Room in Crawford Square in Pittsfield, from 5-8pm on Friday, December 16th. The highlight of the evening will be the drawing for the winners of the BOOM raffle, which is raising funds for its mission to advance the visibility and viability of the area’s original music scene.

Prizes in the raffle include a CD duplication package from In Touch Printing; 2 hours of free studio time at Muddy Angel Music, with a producer; a Mitchell MD200 electric guitar and free ½ hour lesson from Guitar Center in West Springfield; and 6 weeks tuition to attend BOOM’s Songwriting Workshop. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Boom Room or online at boom413.com for $5 right up until the drawing, with all proceeds going to BOOM, which is part of Columbia Arts Team (CAT), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit dedicated to showcasing area performing arts. One need not be present to win.

“We’re incredibly grateful to our local business partners who have donated prizes to help BOOM,” enthused Liv Cummins, a BOOM board member and singer/songwriter, musical theater dramatist, and host of the live comedy show, Saturday Night LIV. “Our number of supporters widens as people see the vibrant community of music-makers and others growing through BOOM, especially local business owners active in the arts including Mary McGinnis of Mary’s Carrot Cake in Pittsfield and Mark Parsons of Berkshire Classic Leather & Silver in Lenox, both of whom have been extremely generous with their donations and support.”

Performing at the Raffle-Rama will be Boston area indie folk duo, Jack, and Katie, plus an act yet to be announced. Also included in the evening’s festivities will be CD giveaways, the art exhibit ‘Winter Music’ (with a percentage of art sales going to BOOM), and a surprise guest or two.

Among BOOM’s programs supported by the fundraising efforts is a television show on PCTV, scheduled to begin in February; a local music radio show; and ongoing musician and songwriter educational and networking services, including the Tuesday night Songwriting Workshop led by songwriter/musician/producer Sandy McKnight.

Crawford Square is at 137 North Street in Pittsfield, MA. The BOOM Room is a showcase space where, every Friday evening from 5-8pm, live local original music is presented, free of charge. For more information, go to boom413.com or find BOOM on Facebook.
