One Straw Revolutions plays the standards from the Swing era, when jazz, popular music and dance music were all the same tunes. Back then it was Big Bands, 18 or more musicians blowing like crazy….a small band with a big band sound. The band’s hot rhythm section with a stand up bass, and three fine soloists (2 guitars and a trombone) and a vocalist brings the old tunes to life in the here and now on the dance floor.
The Band is: Bobby MacVeety, guitar & vocals | Roger Suters, bass | Jon Suters, guitar | Grisha Alexiev, percussion | Peter McEachern, trombone
Refreshments available. This event is part of our Third Friday (mostly) Swing series at Dewey Hall. Every month a beginner swing dance lesson is followed by a live band and dancing.
This program is supported in part by grants from the towns of Sheffield, Alford-Egremont, Monterey, and Mount Washington Massachusetts Local Cultural Councils.
