The Frelinghuysen Morris House & Studio, in Lenox, is sponsoring an outdoor dance performance, the world premiere of Collective Consciousness by the Coleman Dance Company, based in New Rochelle, New York. This will take place on Saturday, May 21st at 5 pm, with a rain date of Sunday, May 22nd at 3 pm.
Collective Consciousness, performed by twenty dancers ranging in age from 10 to 17 and choreographed by Christina Coleman, is described in the choreographer’s own words as “a site specific work located at The Frelinghuysen Morris House & Studio. This is a narrative piece on a journey to connect to ourselves and to the planet, amidst the ever growing challenges and imminent dangers of climate change. We are inspired by the beautiful grounds of the museum and are looking forward to performing in the natural landscape, while connecting to the history of George and Suzy [the principal artists of FMH&S], and the many expressions of abstract art.”
