Jack Swindlehurst and The Old Fashioneds – Friday Night Cafe

April 12 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm EDT

Jack Swindlehurst and The Old Fashioneds:

Jack grew up listening to music borrowed from the local library in Middletown, CT; The Kingston Trio, the Chad Mitchell Trio, Beethoven, The Smothers Brothers and the Beatles. They all influenced Jack’s early creative drive to write songs of love and life. Some forty years and seventy songs later, Jack still performs a few of those early original works. Later influences were Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, The Band, Leon Redbone, and many more including just plain muse.

Jack is still writing songs and the subject matter is still Love and Life.

The Old Fashioneds is a three-woman project based out of Western Mass/Southern VT. They began singing together outside a bar late one night, and haven’t stopped since! Driven by tight three-part harmonies and a strong rhythmic pulse, they draw repertoire from old-time fiddle tunes, bluegrass standards, Cajun dance music & early country.

Across genre, they interpret old songs with a love of tradition, and intuitive feel for the music’s emotional core. They easily connect to audiences in settings from intimate concerts, to square dances, to rowdy barrooms.

The event is free, donations are appreciated, snacks are provided, BYO drinks. Masks are welcome, and encouraged. Once again brought to you by the friendly folks at the Village Church who believe music can be a powerful force for building community.

Friday Night Cafe is supported in part by grants from the Chesterfield, Cummington, Goshen, Hinsdale-Peru, Plainfield, Williamsburg, Windsor, and Worthington Cultural Councils, local agencies which are supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
