Edible Invasive Plants Workshop

May 20 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am EDT

Edible Invasive Plants Workshop presented by Vermont Land Trust and the Batten Kill Cooperative Invasive Species Management Association Did you know some of the common Vermont invasive species are actually quite tasty? Join VLT and the Batten Kill Cooperative Invasive Species Management Association (CISMA) as we learn how to identify, treat, and eat (!) five edible invasives: Autumn Olive, Multiflora Rose, Japanese Barberry, Garlic Mustard, and Japanese Knotweed. Before the workshop begins, we’ll do an optional half-hour invasive plant pull along the George Aiken Wildflower Trail behind the Bennington Museum. Join us at 9:30 AM to walk the trail and remove invasives, or arrive at 10:00 for the workshop. This is a great introduction for anyone interested in spearheading invasive management on their property or expanding their forager’s palate. Please bring proper clothing for moving outdoors, sunscreen, water and an open mind!
