Digital Technology, Social Media, and Today’s Political Climate

Featuring a lively on-stage conversation with Molly Wood, American Public Media’s Marketplace Tech, and Glenn Greenwald, Pulitzer Prize winner and co-founding editor of The Intercept. Aminatou Sow, founder of Tech LadyMafia and co-host of Call Your Girlfriend, will moderate.

Molly Wood (@mollywood) is the host and Senior Editor of Marketplace Tech, a national radio program and podcast that demystifies the business of technology. She also co-hosts the podcast “Make Me Smart with Kai and Molly” and is an Ideas contributor at WIRED. Molly has spent two decades covering the tech industry on all platforms and is known as a pioneer in podcasting. She has been recognized for her dynamic reporting by the Webbys, the National Magazine Awards, and is a Gracie Award winner. Prior to joining Marketplace, she was a tech columnist at The New York Times and an executive editor at CNET.

Glenn Greenwald is a journalist, constitutional lawyer, and author of four New York Times best-selling books on politics and law. His most recent book, “No Place to Hide,” is about the U.S. surveillance state and his experiences reporting on the Snowden documents around the world. Prior to co-founding The Intercept, Greenwald’s column was featured in the Guardian and Salon. Along with Laura Poitras, Foreign Policy magazine named him one of the top 100 Global Thinkers for 2013. The NSA reporting he led for the Guardian was awarded the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for public service.

Aminatou Sow is the co-host of Call Your Girlfriend , a weekly podcast that tackles the intricacies of feminism, pop culture and the latest in politics. She has interviewed everyone from Hillary Clinton to Roxane Gay, Kirsten Gillibrand, Ali Raisman and many more. Her talks and interviews lead to candid conversations about female ambition, money and power. She is a member of the Sundance Institute Director’s Advisory Group and previously led Social Impact Marketing at Google. She was named one of Forbes 30 Under 30 in Tech. She is also the co-founder of Tech LadyMafia, an organization created to increase the visibility of women working in and around Technology.
