Combining indie rock with shades of experimental music and early American folk, Califone rose from the ashes of acclaimed Chicago-based band Red Red Meat. Spearheaded by frontman Tim Rutili, the band has been praised by critics and fans alike for its sonic originality and craftsmanship. As Under the Radar once wrote, Califone melds “brilliant, conjuring stark, cinematic imagery via Rutili’s off-kilter antiquated lyrical motifs, and a vintage instrumental aesthetic that’s paradoxically forward-looking.”
For this intimate Living Room show, Rutili will be joined by Ben Massarella (Modest Mouse, Red Red Meat) and Rachel Blumberg (The Decemberists, The Low Anthem).
