In the Wake: On Blackness and Being, 2016

Christina Sharpe’s highly influential non-fiction book In the Wake uses the multiple meanings of “the wake” – i.e. the movement of water behind a ship, a ritual for the dead, and a consciousness of injustice – to examine the lingering effects of slavery.

Additional Book Club Sessions

September 26 – Octavia Butler, Parable of the Sower
December 5 – Kathleen Collins, Whatever Happened to Interracial Love?

Co-sponsored by Multicultural BRIDGE
