The Birth of the Batman Movie Franchise — Michael Uslan to Speak at the ’62 Center

January 17 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Michael Uslan, best known as the originator and executive producer of the Batman movie series, will discuss “The Birth of the Batman Movie Franchise: How passion, perseverance and an entrepreneurial spirit can make your dreams come true.”

His films include Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman film, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, and most recently into Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Lego Movie (2014) and Zack Snyder’s Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In 2012, Chronicle Books published Uslan’s fully illustrated memoir, The Boy Who Loved Batman. In it, the author recalls his journey from early childhood fandom through to the decades he spent on a caped crusade of his own: to bring Batman to the silver screen as the dark, serious character he was at heart. Uslan’s story traces his path from the wilds of New Jersey to the limelight of Hollywood, following his work as Executive Producer on every Batman film from Tim Burton’s 1989 re-envisioning to 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, creating one of the most successful pop culture franchises of all time.

This event takes place in the MainStage in the ’62 Center.
Reception to follow in MainStage lobby. Sponsored by the Sterling Fund of Phi Beta Kappa.
