PITTSFIELD — Singers are welcome for the fall semester of Berkshire Concert Choir’s 41st season. The Choir will begin rehearsals on Wednesday, September 4, 7 P.M., in the chorus room (#133) at Pittsfield High School, 300 East Street. The fall concert entitled “An Afternoon at the Opera,” directed by Paula Nuss and accompanied by Memrie Kelly, will be performed on November 23 and 24 in Common Room at Zion Lutheran Church in Pittsfield. The Choir provides yearlong quality choral music in the Berkshires and elsewhere. Choir members come from Berkshire County and nearby towns in New York and Connecticut.
The concert will include choruses and arias from “Dido and Aeneas,” “Cavalleria Rusticana,” “Carmen,” “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” “The Pirates of Penzance,” and “Phantom of the Opera.” Soloists will be sopranos Marcella Bradway, Rebecca Zahn Hoffmann, Ann-Marie Desautelle, Holland Tuck, and baritone Chris Clark.
Rehearsals are held every Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Singer registration will take place before the first rehearsal, so early arrival is encouraged. There are no auditions.
Dues are $40; students are free. The last date to join is September 25. As part of its “Bring a Friend” and “Come Sing with Us” campaigns, the Choir encourages singers to bring along a friend or family member who might want to join the choir.
