Bach Magnificat and more

Cantilena and Trinity Church will present a much loved classic- the Bach Magnificat with orchestra, soloists and chorus. Also included on the program will be monumental works for chorus and organ for the English cathedral by Howells and Bainton. In 1723, for his first Christmas as cantor of the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, Bach presented a newly composed setting of the Magnificat. It was a grand, celebratory work with a five-voice chorus and a colorful variety of instruments. Filled with brilliance and grandeur, Bach’s Magnificat is filled with countless fascinating details.
