DREAM/AWAKE, a new play by J. Peter Bergman
Co-directed by J. Peter Bergman & Monica Bliss
Wednesday, September 4th 1-2pm
Callbacks: Wednesday, September 4th 2-3pm
Gwynned Vaughan (45-50) – a man in his late forties. He is a man of facts and figures, an investment broker, a partner in a company that works directly with clients to grow their money; he is good at it and can work from home if he prefers. He suffers from lingering dreams.
Constance Vaughan (35-55) – his wife, mid-forties, pretty, alert, not submissive to his whims. She has a great sense of loyalty and strength, as her name infers, and she resents being taken for granted.
Dr. Daniel Dravis (35 to 55) – a psychiatrist. Single, handsome and personable.
Faith (35-55) – a different version of Constance, played by the same actress
Miranda (35-55) – a woman in Gwynned’s dreams.
Cherí (18-30) – a woman who dances in Gwynned’s dreams. She is young, pretty, lithe.
Boy (13-30) – a younger man who dances with Cherí. He might be a young version of Gwynned.
Rehearsals begin in September. There will be six performances of “DREAM/AWAKE” over two weekends at the Whitney Center for the Arts in Downtown Pittsfield between November 8th and November 24th. This play will rehearse daytime hours until tech week. A small stipend will be paid to the actors. Please direct questions to Monica Bliss by email at [email protected]
