Located at 302 Columbus Avenue in Pittsfield, Mass. BB’s Hot Spot is a take out only restaurant and can also be seen at local Berkshire County events with their food truck.
The Berkshires are ready to let their taste buds soar by getting a taste of the islands.
Nestled in the trees at 302 Columbus Avenue in Pittsfield, MA, BB’s Hot Spot is a surprise to come out of a rough year brought on by the pandemic.
With the rich smell of Caribbean food, this small restaurant started operating as a takeout business in January 2021.
Along with operating as a takeout restaurant, BB’s Hot Spot also has a food truck available for catering and events throughout the Berkshires.
Ronny Brizan is the owner and chef behind BB’s Hot Spot, creating a piece of his home to bring to Berkshire County.
“I grew up in Grenada in the Caribbean and I have been residing in the Berkshires for around 10 years now.
My friends from back home had moved to the Berkshires and they started working at The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, MA, so when I moved here, my first job was also at The Red Lion Inn, explained Brizan.”
Brizan comes from a chef’s family and has worked in the food industry and hospitality field since his upbringing.
Brazin ran a restaurant back home serving traditional Caribbean cuisine and had a goal of one day bringing a piece of his country with him to America.
Brazin was one of many employees within the Main St. Hospitality Staff to lose his job at the start of the pandemic.
Closing one door as another one opened, the idea for BB’s Hot Spot came after losing his job at the Red Lion Inn.
“I always wanted to open up my own restaurant in the Berkshires, and it was a business I was familiar with having my restaurant back home. So, it was always something I thought about and dreamed of, said Brazin.”
Brazin opened BB’s Hot Spot when many restaurants were struggling to keep their doors open during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“My real drive to open BB’s was because I had lost my job at The Red Lion. This was a restaurant that I can fully make my own, so I started with a food truck and continued from there, said Brazin.”
The food truck did more than kick start a new business for Brazin. It also gave him the chance to explore the Berkshires, see new places and meet new people.
“When I lost my job, I started looking into food trucks, and it was fun, and something that I enjoyed, especially being able to work outside and catering at these events would let me get to know people differently, said Brazin.”
BB’s Hot Spot has a unique menu. Every day of the week, except Mondays when they are closed, BB’s has a different featured dish plus a good selection of combination meals to choose from.
BB’s will have some dessert options for the coming summer months.
BB’s Hotspot can be found on Instagram and Facebook. They also cater on Door Dash and Uber Eats.
