We speak again with our ever-generous guest Michelle Daly of the Berkshire Cultural Resource Center at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Michelle discusses some of the exceptional events coming up in December, including Anais Mitchell, Unsilent Night, and Spectacle 99, and hints at what’s to come in 2016.

Toy donations from the community to the Northern Berkshire Santa Fund make sure that boys and girls in North Berkshire County have presents under the tree on Christmas morning.

I cruised southward alone along a curving, coastal dream road in central Maine. I suppose it might have been on the North Shore. It might have been in the Maritimes, though never having been to that region of Canada, I wouldn’t know. The sky was inhabited by a diverse population of cloud styles. In the foreground, dense, grey, self-important tufts sailed along with me at a low altitude. Above them, frivolous wisps formed and dissipated, sometimes gathering into excited groups before being dispelled by the insistent breeze. Higher still, the remainder of atmospheric bodies, dingy, off-white pedestrian slabs, lumbered at an almost imperceptible velocity, occasionally colliding with other members of their number.

In “Penny Land” a new film being filmed in the Berkshires by Billy Hahn, a young man drifts aimlessly through life dreaming about striking rich by betting on the shady world of penny stocks. As his dream becomes an obsession he creates a stock scheme that could destroy himself and everyone around him.

You don’t have to defy the stars to enjoy a hot date with two of literature’s most unlucky lovers, Romeo and Juliet. The eponymous tragedy, staged by the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, Fine and performing and Arts Department, will run for one weekend at the Venable Theatre.
